Mariska Hargitay is an amazing woman. She’s an actress, producer, director, mother, activist, and philanthropist. We’re inspired by her dedication to her work, family, and for making the world a better place. Her parents were actors Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay. Mariska Hargitay had a great career in film and television, and then she booked the role of Detective Olivia Benson on Law and Order Special Victims Unit. Her career has exploded. Detective Olivia Benson is a voice for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault in New York. Hargitay has expanded her character’s goal on screen to real life. In 2004 she founded the Joyful Heart Foundation. The organization supports survivors of child abuse, domestic abuse, and sexual assault. Hargitay serves as the president of the Joyful Heart Foundation. The organization recently started the “No More” campaign. “No More” is a call to action to end domestic violence and sexual assault. The organization also campaigns for rape kit backlog reform. Many rape cases in America are left open and unsolved, because the evidence hasn’t been processed. The foundation urges police departments across America to get caught up on their rape kits, finish their investigations, and to get justice for victims. You can watch Mariska Hargitay on NBC’s Law & Order SVU and you can read more about the Joyful Heart Foundation here.
