Curly hair can be hard to maintain, but summer is the perfect season to go au naturel. It’s too hot outside to be inside, a slave to your straightener. Whether you have loose waves or tight coils, let your hair go natural. Here are some tips for getting your curls in their best shape.
Ditch the Towel
Terrycloth towels create extra frizz, so try using something instead of a normal towel. Microfiber towels are much gentler to your hair. You could also use a t-shirt or jersey pillowcase.
L.O.C. stands for leave-in conditioner, oil, and cream. LOC tells you what hair products to use and in what order. When your hair is still wet, use your favorite leave-in conditioner. We love the natural line Giovanni’s Leave-in-Treatment. Your hair’s texture will decide what kind of oil you use. For coarse or thick hair, olive oil might work. Finer hair will benefit from jojoba oil. Argan oil will work on almost all hair textures, and it smells nice. The C stands for cream. We love L’Oreal EverCurl Cream. You can also use your favorite curl mousse. If your hair is thin, fine, or your curls are looser, you might want to skip one of these steps. Use whatever is best for your hair.
Let your curls air dry! If you must use heat, use a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer.
